Washing clothes sounds simple, but many people are still lazy to do it. This laziness is actually reasonable, considering that each piece of cloth has its own "rules of the game". Like a sweater that should be soaked in foam for five minutes, then lightly rubbed. While cotton shirts can be soaked for more than an hour. These things need to be considered so that the color of the clothes is maintained. Let's see what tips can make the color of our clothes last longer and not fade easily.

Tip #1 - Pay attention to the washing instruction label on each shirt

Almost every garment has two labels, a brand label and a care label. On the care label, there is various information such as the type of fabric of the clothes, recommendations for washing, the ironing heat that should be used, and other information to help us maintain the condition of the clothes.

Tip #2 - Turn Clothes Inside Out Before Washing

The inside is the part that is directly exposed to sweat, so it is the inside that must be directly exposed to the detergent so that the stains or sweat particles can be eradicated. Therefore, it is advisable to turn the clothes over before washing, because if they are not turned over, there is a tendency for the outside to fade quickly.

Tip #3 - Separate Light & Dark Colored Clothes

Separate clothes with dark colors such as gray, black, dark blue, red from clothes that are yellow, light green, light yellow, and other bright colors. If you do this, you reduce the risk of the dark colors fading into the light colors, as the dyes used to dye fabrics dark can damage brightly colored clothes.

Tip #4 - Don't Wash Too Often

Turning clothes before washing can indeed reduce fading, but if clothes are washed too often then inevitably the colors will fade quickly too. So, if you wear clothes for only a few hours and they are still relatively clean, then the clothes are still safe to wear without washing them first. Before re-use, just hang clothes and aerated or dried for a while.

Tip #5 - Avoid Hot or Hot Water

For certain materials, washing with warm or hot water can damage the fibers of the fabric, causing the color to fade. Cold water or water at room temperature can slow down the fading and shrinkage of the fabric. Cold water also helps reduce wrinkles, which means saving energy and time too.

Tip #6 - Use the Right Detergent & Softener

In the market, there are lots of detergents and softeners ranging from cheap to premium ones. However, not all detergents and softeners maintain the quality of the fabric, some even damage the fabric. Make sure the detergent and softener formulation you use is safe and friendly to the fabric, so that the quality of the fabric is maintained.

Another factor that can cause clothes to fade is improper washing methods, such as improper water temperature or harsh detergent chemicals. That's why we often leave this matter to the laundry, starting from home laundry to the nearest franchise laundry at affordable prices.
